There's nothing easier to slip into a lunch box than a few of these mega-healthy energy balls. Super easy to prepare, every single ingredient inside is a nutritional powerhouse! That includes raw cacao powder, an ingredient that we don't feature often enough. Cacao powder is the result of fermenting and drying cacao beans, found in the fruit of the cacao tree. When we refer to "raw" cacao powder, it's that they're never exposed to temperatures higher than 42°C, meaning that they're seven times richer in antioxidants than roasted cacao. Raw cacao powder is also high in minerals, vitamins and essential amino acids. Did you know that it contains anandamide, a neurotransmitter sometimes referred to as "the bliss molecule", which blocks sensations of stress and anxiety, and promotes well-being? It's the only food that contains it, so bite into some bliss with these delicious energy balls!
Ingredients
-
1 cup PRANA organic raw European almonds
-
15 PRANA organic Medjool dates, pitted
-
3 tbsp PRANA organic raw cacao powder
-
1 tbsp PRANA organic blanched almond butter (or the nut butter of your choice)
-
2 tbsp PRANA organic coconut oil
-
2 tbsp PRANA organic whole black Proactivchia seeds
-
2 tbsp PRANA organic shelled hemp seeds
Directions
In a food processor, pulse the almonds so that they're broken into small pieces, but stop before they become a fine powder.
Add the rest of the ingredients and pulse for several seconds until everything is blended.
Roll into balls with your hands (dampen them to prevent the balls from sticking) and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
You may also roll each ball in some grated coconut or coarsely chopped nuts.
Store in the freezer for several weeks or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
