Have you tried chia lemonade yet? It's a great way to incorporate chia into your daily diet and a fun alternative to store-bought drinks, which are often too sweet. With a base of green tea, raspberries and lemon, this recipe will appeal to both kids and adults. The chia seeds give it a bubble tea-like texture. With our ProactivChia, you get the benefits of two different strains of vegan probiotic. Try switching out the raspberries for mangoes or other types of berries. The possibilities are...delicious!
Ingredients
-
2 1/3 cups filtered water, divided
-
5 tbsp PRANA organic whole black Proactivchia seeds
-
2 green tea bags brewed in 2 cups of water
-
1 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
-
Juice of 3 lemons
-
1/4 cup agave syrup or maple syrup, or more to taste
Directions
In a Mason jar, mix 2 cups of water with the chia seeds. Let sit for 30 minutes, shaking regularly so the seeds don't stick to the bottom of the jar. The mix will become thick like a gel. Set aside.
Steep 2 green tea bags in 2 cups of cold water. Set aside.
While the tea steeps, combine the raspberries with the remaining 1/3 cup of water in a saucepan. Heat on medium until the raspberries turn into a purée. Press through a sieve to extract the raspberry juice (keep the pulp to use in smoothies, muffins or cakes).
Let cool for several minutes and add the green tea, lemon juice and agave or maple syrup.
In a pitcher or large Mason jar, combine the raspberry-green tea mix with the chia gel. Stir well or, if using a Mason jar, shake vigorously.
Add ice cubes or put in the fridge for an hour. Stir again before serving.
Store for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
